Wildcoast Tented Lodge: Where jungle and sea meet
Can you imagine going on a safari to see leopards, monkeys, elephants, crocodiles, and water buffalo by the sea? The Yala National Park is located on the shores of the Indian Ocean, in the southeastern part of Sri Lanka. Unlike private reserves in Africa, Yala was declared a National Park in 1938 despite the fact that it was originally used as a hunting ground by British elites under the colonial empire.
In a safari, humans are the "intruders" in the natural ecosystem of the animals, and it is necessary to respect their rhythms, environment, and know that each safari, depending on the day or time, will surprise you with the encounter of different species. Even so, you will most likely be able to see a group of female elephants walking in a circle around their young, protecting them from an irascible male.
Yala covers an area of 130,000 hectares and is home to some 44 varieties of mammals and more than 200 species of birds. It is renowned for being the area with the world's highest concentration of leopards (although you may not always be able to see them)

After an intense day of safari, a relaxing soak in the vintage copper bathtub of your luxury tent awaits you at WildCoast Tented Lodge. This spectacular camp is located just a short distance from Yala, facing a rugged beach.
The unique design of its "cocoon" style tents and spatial aesthetics makes them blend perfectly into the natural environment of the jungle, thanks to the use of natural materials of the same color as the rocks in the area. The interior will surprise you with a luxurious colonial chic style and a successful combination of furniture and elements that will transport you to the time of travelers in the early twentieth century.

Hardwoods, teak floors, rigid canvas walls, linens, cottons, dark leather, sumptuous canopied beds, and a bathroom, all integrated in the same suite, with a handmade copper bathtub that will grab your attention from the very first minute. An exclusive and eclectic atmosphere that we could define as vintage futurism that evokes the bygone era of luxury travel.
Your experience doesn't end there. The open-air Ten Tuskers, a bamboo-clad bar and restaurant pavilion, both open to the beach, surround the camp's inviting pool.
At the restaurant, you can enjoy a traditional breakfast of hoppers (pancakes with eggs) and curry, creative menus made with local recipes and products, outdoor picnics on the sand dunes, sunset cocktails among the rocks, and dinners on the beach under the moonlight.
On your return to your tent, one of the camp's friendly staff will accompany you to avoid unexpected encounters with one of the Yala elephants that have become a regular visitor to Wildcoast Tented Lodge.
